John Maboko

Computer Programmer, NIMR Mbeya Medical Research Centre
John Maboko is a computer programmer within the ICT Department at the National Institute for Medical Research – Mbeya. His areas of expertise include UX/Interface Design, Web development, Database design, Linux systems management and IT Desk support.

Prior to his position, John first worked as an IT intern with NIMR for about a year. As an intern, John boosted the IT team with his skills by revamping the site’s website that was present, he also helped introduce Mail security strategies and procedures. Before joining NIMR, John worked as an IT Intern at LafargeHolcim – Mbeya Cement company where he sharpened his IT support and technical maintenance skills. John also works as a freelance web developer, providing technical assistance and consultancy.

As a Computer programmer with NIMR, John has worked on several projects including the development of NIMR HQ’s website, an Index for East Africa Clinical sites and the Research Ethics Information Management System, also known as REIMS.

John holds a BSc. Information Technology and Business Information Systems from Middlesex University (London) and an Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering from Aptech.
